二、「生起」下，明七次第。初、入定者，大覺頓圓照而常寂。今之入定，蓋示軌儀令人樂定。次、敘述者，既入妙定，見法尊貴，即於此定敘述經王。言出敘者，實未示於出定之相，蓋寂不妨照，故云出耳。佛不出定即說此經，意本彰於寂中有照也。次、懷疑者，既敘述法是佛所證，信相乃疑能證人壽那不稱法？瑞應等次，文顯可知。

Second, from 'arising' below, clarifying the sequence of the seven. First, entering samādhi: the Great Awakening is sudden and perfect, shining while ever tranquil. Now entering samādhi merely demonstrates a standard model to inspire delight in samādhi. Next, recounting: having entered the wonderful samādhi and seen that the Dharma is noble, he recounts the king of sūtras right within this samādhi. As for saying 'emerging to recount', it does not actually demonstrate an appearance of emerging from samādhi; rather, because tranquility does not obstruct illumination, it is simply called emerging. The Buddha expounding this sūtra without emerging from samādhi fundamentally intends to reveal that within tranquility there is illumination. Next, harboring doubt: since the recounted Dharma is what the Buddha has realized, Ruciraketu then doubts why the life span of the person capable of realization does not correspond to the Dharma. The sequence of auspicious responses and the rest is clear and discernible from the text.
