初、法。學者應知本覺為處，始覺為佛。全本為始，始方合本。若不爾者，如何各稱無量甚深？然初坐道場即已冥合，今為引物故示合相，乃云遊於諸佛行處。

First, the doctrine. Practitioners should know that original enlightenment is the locus, and initial enlightenment is the Buddha. Entirely [taking] the original constitutes the initial, and only then does the initial unite with the original. If it were not so, how could each be called "immeasurably profound"? However, as soon as he first sat at the place of the Way, he had already mystically united with it; now, in order to guide sentient beings, he displays the aspect of union, and thus it says, "sporting in the sphere of action of all Buddhas."
