二、觀解。前約教解，是佛會開悟；今約觀心，是滅後造修。前分四教，今在一心，文同意異。

Second, the contemplation interpretation. The previous explanation according to the teachings concerned awakening in the Buddha's assembly; the present [explanation] according to the contemplation of mind concerns cultivation after the [Buddha's] extinction. The former distinguished the four teachings, while the present is within the one mind; the text is identical, but the meaning differs.
