初、引經。此從順修稱理事說，修行所感，釋報義也。《法華》文證智德之報，以彼經云「慧光照無量」故。《涅槃》文證斷德之報，以云「大般涅槃」故。

First, citing sūtras. This explains the meaning of reward as that which is induced by cultivation, speaking from the perspective of conforming cultivation matching principle. The passage from the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra verifies the reward of the virtue of wisdom, because that sūtra states, "The light of wisdom shines immeasurably." The passage from the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra] verifies the reward of the virtue of severance, because it says "Great Parinirvāṇa."
