二、引新本，二：初、別證應身二義。彼憍陳如婆羅門欲得如來舍利如芥粟許，此乃知佛九旬當滅，故願求之。可證應為八十有量也。「王子」下，即栗毘王子答婆羅門也。雖即法報，且從福報以證勝應。

Second, citing the new translation, in two parts: First, separately proving the two meanings of the responsive body. That Kauṇḍinya the brahmin wished to obtain relics of the Tathāgata the size of a mustard seed was because he knew the Buddha would enter extinction in ninety days, and thus he sought them with aspiration. This can prove that the responsive body has a measure of eighty [years]. From "The prince..." onward, this refers to the Licchavi prince replying to the brahmin. Although it is the Dharma and reward [bodies], for now it proves the superior response from the perspective of the reward of merit.
