初、約理教互疑，二：初、執教疑理；二、執理惑教。佛之所說是能詮教，長壽因果是所詮理，即道理也。互執成疑，文義可見。

First, mutual doubt regarding principle and teaching, with two [points]: First, clinging to the teaching and doubting the principle; second, clinging to the principle and being confused by the teaching. What the Buddha speaks is the teaching that expresses; the cause and effect of long life is the principle that is expressed—that is, the rational principle. Clinging to one against the other produces doubt; the meaning of the text can be seen.
