Second, showing the contemplation practice. Pointing out specifically that the ignorance, craving, and attachment of one's own mind can give birth to all the offspring of afflictions; hence they are called 'father and mother'. If one cannot realize that these two are inherent evil, then one must sever and destroy them, which is called doctrinal reversal. If one contemplates them as identical to the nature, then without departing from delusion and craving, their entire substance is luminous and pure, and both the contemplating and the contemplated are ungraspable. Since they are like empty space, delusion and craving become tranquil, which is called the good of cessation. Contemplating through this immediate tranquility, one traverses all mental factors and causes them all to become luminous and pure, which is further called the good of practice. This is contemplating the mind to see the eternity of all phenomena; how could it fail to evoke the eternal fruit of the three bodies?
