初、人持戒功淺，須加防護心。如牛馬，若非轡勒則見奔逸，若無杖策則犯苗稼，喻不作意則於境成犯。報百二十年是上方壽，人道諸根但明肉眼，餘根可例。

First, humans uphold the precepts with shallow efficacy, needing an added mind of guarding. Like oxen and horses, which without bridles and reins will be seen bolting, and without whips will trample crops, this exemplifies that without intentional attention, one commits violations against objects. The retribution of one hundred and twenty years is the lifespan of the superior person; of the faculties of the human realm, it only mentions the physical eye, and the remaining faculties can be inferred by analogy.
