三、「是鼓」下，能令眾生自他俱備。前一行半自行備，後二行半化他備。害煩惱是破因，除苦是破果。下二句釋上。貪瞋癡釋上煩惱。等之一字，等取諸苦悉令寂滅，是正釋上能害消除義也。

Third, from "This drum..." onward, being able to cause sentient beings to be complete in both self and others. The first line and a half concerns being complete in one's own practice; the latter two lines and a half concern being complete in transforming others. Harming afflictions is destroying causes; removing suffering is destroying effects. The lower two lines explain the above. Greed, hatred, and delusion explain "afflictions" above. The word "and so on" takes all forms of suffering and so forth, causing them all to become quiescent; this directly explains the meaning of "able to harm and eliminate" above.
