二、「自恃」下，懺報障，三：初、約事釋。以姓傲他者，以貴傲賤也。西土剎利、婆羅門姓貴，毘舍、首陀姓賤。餘二可解。此二善報，若縱恣者為修道障，若不縱者堪能助道。

Second, from 'relying on oneself' onward, repenting the retributive obstacle, in three parts: First, explaining in terms of phenomenal aspects. To be arrogant toward others on account of clan means being arrogant toward the base on account of being noble. In the Western land (India), the kṣatriya and brāhmaṇa clans are noble, while the vaiśya and śūdra clans are base. The remaining two can be understood. These two wholesome retributions, if indulged, become obstacles to cultivating the Path; if not indulged, they are capable of aiding the Path.
