初、引經論證。數家是《婆沙》，論家是《成實》。遮未來者，斷相續心。若不遮斷（音短），未來必起。故新經〈淨除業障品〉懺罪文中，依三世菩薩皆云「已作之罪願得除滅，未來之惡更不敢作」，並遮未來也。

First, citing sūtras and treatises as proof. The Abhidharma masters (sarvāstivādins) are the *Vibhāṣā*; the Treatise masters are the *Satyasiddhi*. Warding off the future means severing the continuing mind. If it is not warded off and severed, it will certainly arise in the future. Therefore, in the repentance text of the "Chapter on Purifying Karmic Obstacles" of the new translation, following the bodhisattvas of the three periods of time, all say: "May the transgressions already committed be eliminated, and future evils not dare be committed again"—all warding off the future.
