Third, from "from all..." onward, clarifying the praise, which has two parts: first, establishing the intent and dividing the text. The two kinds of offerings may correspond to body and mind; since words have not been uttered, they have not yet been expressed, and since the three types of karma are incomplete, they are not yet fully provided. Now, adding verbal karma makes them manifest and complete; hence the sequence is established. Previously, although the cultivation of practice and repentance by oneself and others could benefit and augment the Buddha's lifespan, it was called the gate of offering. Now, although it praises the three bodies of the Buddha, it can accomplish the practitioner's method of contemplation, so it is called the gate of mindfulness of the Buddha. Although the dharmas mutually contain each other, based on what is predominant, two Dharma gates are established.
