Second, citing two passages from the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra. Moving through is called "practice"; close familiarity is called "approach." Both of these must rely on the locus of the single truth. If one wishes to endure many insults, one must abide in the ground of principle; this ground is mind, so what further is there to practice or to differentiate? Nor does one consider that one's practice is without differentiation. If not so, how could it be called attaining the locus? As for "the place of jewels is close at hand," and so on, pointing directly to obstacles being virtues—how could anything be closer than this? Yet one must contemplate and illuminate; hence it says "advance forward." Abandoning grasping at provisional sentiments is called extinguishing the conjured city. Realizing that the provisional is the true is called arriving at the place of jewels.
