二、釋二性。夫性有二義：一真理不變名性、二隨緣染習名性。此言性異，約染習性也。此之二性，遍心意識，一一皆二也。

Second, explaining the two natures. Now, 'nature' has two meanings: first, the true principle being immutable is called 'nature'; second, following conditions in defiled conditioning is called 'nature'. Here, speaking of the difference of natures refers to the nature of defiled conditioning. These two natures pervade mind (citta), thought (manas), and consciousness (vijñāna); each and every one has both.
