初、斥小乘師。《毘曇》有門說存隣虛，《成實》空門說破隣虛，若存若破皆為析滅見愛二惑。弘者失意各生定計，起見起思故屬斷常，同彼外人全非正析。

First, reproving the masters of the Hīnayāna. The existence-door of the Abhidharma speaks of preserving the infinitesimal particle; the emptiness-door of the *Tattvasiddhi* speaks of breaking down the infinitesimal particle. Whether preserving or breaking down, both are for the sake of analyzing and eliminating the two delusions of views and attachments. Those who propagated them missed the meaning and each gave rise to fixed assertions; generating views and generating thoughts, these consequently belong to annihilationism and eternalism, entirely identical to those non-Buddhists and not genuine analysis at all.
