First, the dull. Arising by grasping the cast-off body of another is innate delusion; being born together with the body, it is called innate delusion. Just as all wriggling insects do not actually infer principle, yet lift their pincers, spread their dorsal fins, glare fiercely, and aggrandize themselves—how could such low, minor, ordinary, and inferior creatures cling to views? Constantly giving rise to the mind of self in walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, it arises spontaneously at all times; hence it is called coarse and dull.
