First, explaining "merit and virtue" (guṇadevatī). Between the two kinds of adornment, this corresponds to meritorious virtue; merit can assist wisdom to adorn the fundamental principle. Wisdom is the three kinds of prajñā, merit is the three liberations, and what is manifested and adorned is the three tracks. Whether general or distinct, all are different names for the single reality of the Golden Light. It should be understood that both the "Chapter on Great Eloquence" and the "Chapter on Guṇadevatī" have realized and entered the Dharma-door of the Golden Light, and both can comprehensively gather all dharmas. Guiding sentient beings according to their distinct preferences, their names and practices differ: the former gathers all with wisdom as foremost; the latter gathers all with merit as foremost. The ability to gather and what is gathered differ when paired with wisdom; hence it corresponds to the worldly [siddhānta]. Lacking nothing that is needed, one can produce right mindfulness; this then corresponds to the individual [siddhānta]. Contemplating the profound meaning, one can break through the biased and shallow; this then corresponds to the counteractive [siddhānta]. Being able to cause swift awakening to one's inherent bodhi corresponds to the supreme truth [siddhānta].
