初、二句總讚。南無者，歸命之辭也。清淨者，《佛性論》有二種：一、性淨，本無惑染故；二、相淨，對治離障故。今總讚如來中邊智滿、法報應圓，故謂無上正覺也。

First, the two lines of general praise. "Namo" is an expression of taking refuge. As for "pure," the Foxing lun has two kinds: first, natural purity, because it is fundamentally free from defilement; second, phenomenal purity, because it is freed from obstacles through antidotes. Here it generally praises the Tathāgata's fulfillment of wisdom of the middle and extremes, and the perfection of the Dharma, Reward, and Response [Bodies]; hence it speaks of the unsurpassed complete enlightenment.
