初、「爾時」下一行，明經家敘起定。爾時者，即當樹神請畢之時，佛示出定之相，乃云以微妙音而讚歎言，即微細妙好之音而悅豫四眾也。

First, the single line from "At that time..." clarifies the sūtra compiler recounting the rising from samādhi. "At that time": that is, precisely at the time when the tree goddess finished her request, the Buddha displayed the marks of emerging from samādhi, and it then says: "with a subtle and wondrous voice, he praised [her], saying"—that is, with a voice that is subtle and wonderfully fine, he brought delight to the fourfold assembly.
