First, clarifying abidance in the samādhi of dharma nature. Question: In other sūtras, the Buddha must first enter samādhi and preach only after rising from samādhi; why does the present sūtra preach while persistently in samādhi throughout?
Answer: If one discusses the superior samādhi of the dharma nature, how could there be any distinction between emerging and entering, speaking and silence? That he displays samādhi is merely to comply with the capacities of beings, and what is suitable and pleasing to beings' capacities varies. Other sūtras, showing conformity with past Buddhas, all first enter samādhi, traversing conditions of dharmas to remedy the scattered mind that preaches falsely; hence he must enter samādhi and preach only after rising from samādhi. That this sūtra preaches from beginning to end while in samādhi shares the same meaning with the principle stated above. Furthermore, it reveals that the Golden Light is immeasurably profound, unimpeded in sovereignty, and that quiescence and illumination are harmoniously pervasive; therefore, after the preaching is completed, he arises from samādhi and seals and confirms the three rounds of excellent understanding of the Dharma expounded by the Tathāgata.
