2.29

First, reproaching phenomenal keeping as turning into a transgression. The delusional pleasures of humans and devas are deemed desirable. Wishing to establish keeping of principle, phenomenal precepts are reproached; thus, regarding the sought retribution, contaminated pleasure is rebuked. It is like an āmrāta fruit lying in dung: a wise youth should not seek to eat it. Pleasure mixed with view and thought [delusions] is like delicious worldly food mixed with poison; eating it harms life, so a person of contemplative wisdom should not seek it. Even if one obtains flower retribution, the heart does not relish it or give rise to joy; why then do ordinary people keep precepts for the sake of desire?
