Second, from "False conception" downward, causes and conditions of real dharmas are also false conceptions. A single thought of entering the womb is no different from the former, but the former formed a provisional person, whereas this forms real dharmas; provisional and real combine harmoniously to form a single retribution body. Because the two emptinesses are cultivated, the two attachments are broken; hence two objects are distinguished. As for the "master of the mechanical puppet": it is like the mechanical puppet, a provisional person, moving about, and the master is the person operating the mechanism. Therefore, the karmic cause is used as a metaphor for what is operated, and the fruit of the aggregates is used as a metaphor for the wooden puppet. The aggregate of form is like the shape and substance of the wooden puppet; hence it is called the implements of the mechanism. The [other] three aggregates are like the wooden puppet's movements, coming and going; the aggregate of consciousness is like the spectator; hence it is said: "in order to amuse oneself."
