First, properly judging the four emptinesses. Extinguishing form to enter emptiness is the Tripiṭaka teaching. Form is provisionally mentioned, yet all dharmas are extinguished; this means that when view and craving are analyzed and destroyed, the aggregates will not arise. Since it explicates real existence, only upon extinguishing does one enter emptiness. Form itself being emptiness is the Shared teaching. One embodies causes and effects as not arising from the four natures; since it explicates illusory existence, form itself is emptiness. Extinguishing the extremes to enter emptiness is the Distinct teaching. The Middle Way is emptiness; it not only empties existence but also empties emptiness. Yet it does not know that the Middle embodies both emptiness and existence; therefore, only after sequentially extinguishing the two extremes does one enter the Middle emptiness. The extremes themselves being emptiness is the Complete teaching. The Middle Way is endowed with virtues; what extreme is not the Middle? Solely provisional and solely empty, all three are mutually absolute; immediately breaking through all characteristics, it is called the emptiness wherein the extremes themselves are emptiness.
