Second, the various 'neither' [phrases] cultivate perfect emptiness. If in the gates of the wrong, the Small [Vehicle], or the Separate Teaching, although called 'neither,' they all become grasping at marks; all must cultivate the emptiness of all three truths, which is called ultimate emptiness. Because the various 'neither' and 'emptiness' phrases are not the ultimate path and are dharmas of the nine realms, one must therefore cultivate the wondrous contemplation of emptiness and the middle of the Perfect Teaching to return to the secret treasury.
