贊曰：第三文段分為四，此標類舉數。舊云離車或云離咕毘，今云利車毘，有云王種，有云婆羅門姓。準《維摩經》無垢稱云五百長者子，不言王種。或是王種亦名長者，如祇域長者。

Commentary: The third passage is divided into four. This marks their class and cites their number. Formerly [translators] said Licche or Licchavi; now it is rendered Licchavi. Some say they are of royal lineage, and some say of a brahmin clan. According to the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa, Vimalakīrti speaks of 'five hundred elders' sons', without saying 'royal lineage'. Perhaps those of royal lineage are also called elders, like the elder Jīvaka.
