1.184

經　復有四萬二千天子，其名曰：喜見天子、喜悅天子、日光天子、月髻天子、明慧天子、虛空淨慧天子、除煩惱天子、吉祥天子。如是等天子而為上首，皆發弘願護持大乘，紹隆正法能使不絕。各於晡時往詣佛所，頂禮佛足，右繞三匝，退坐一面。

Sūtra: Furthermore, there were forty-two thousand devaputras, namely: Priyadarśana Devaputra, Pramodya Devaputra, Sūryaprabha Devaputra, Candracūḍa Devaputra, Prabhāmati Devaputra, Gaganaviśuddhadhī Devaputra, Kleśāpaha Devaputra, Śrī Devaputra. With devaputras such as these as leaders, they all made vast vows to protect and maintain the Great Vehicle, carrying on and exalting the saddharma so that it does not perish. Each in the late afternoon went to the Buddha's presence, bowed at the Buddha's feet with heads to the ground, circumambulated him clockwise three times, and withdrew to sit to one side.
