Commentary: The second, third, and fourth parts. 'Further expound the sublime Dharma' indicates the three bodies of unexcelled bodhi; hence it is called 'sublime Dharma'. 'Superior among auspicious repentances': practicing repentance relying on the vows of the three bodies is superior among repentances. 'Capable of eradicating all sins': it can subdue and eradicate the three karmas across the three times, the painful fruits of the three realms, and the three afflictions. Therefore the sūtra below says: 'The drum of golden light emits a wondrous sound, reaching throughout the trichiliocosm, capable of extinguishing the extremely heavy sins of the three evil destinies, as well as the afflictions and perils of humans and devas.'
The words 'Purely eliminating all evil karmas' indicate the subsequent chapter 'Eradicating Karmic Obstacles'. Karma and the causes of karma are both called evil karma; thus the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi-śāstra states: 'The retinue of karma is also given the name karma. Alternatively, karma initiated by evil causes and karma that induces evil fruits are also called evil karma.' Because they are deplorable, both belong to the three realms. Or, for those without gotra, it removes only the karma of the three evil destinies and the eight conditions of no opportunity.
