Regarding taking the metaphor of a king, four meanings are also briefly raised: 1. the meaning of being able to destroy enemies; 2. the meaning of being able to gather all treasures; 3. the meaning of being able to transform beings everywhere; 4. the meaning of causing the lineage not to be severed. For example, a wheel-turning king has these four meanings: 1. having a thousand sons and ministers commanding the army, he is able to subdue enemies, metaphorising that this sūtra possesses the dharma of confession and the practice of the ten perfections, eradicating the ten obstacles, the twenty-two kinds of ignorance, and so forth; 2. the meaning of being able to gather all treasures: thus various treatises speak of the samādhi of the king who gathers merit. The "Fulfillment of Vows Chapter" of this sūtra says: "If a king abides in the world, the seven treasures do not perish; if the king passes from the world, all seven treasures spontaneously vanish. If this wondrous Suvarṇaprabhāsa sūtra abides in the present world, the great treasures of the true Dharma will not perish. Furthermore, just as when a wheel-turning king appears in the world the seven treasures manifest in response, once this king of sūtras is expounded, the treasures of the seven noble riches all become manifest." 3. The meaning of being able to transform beings everywhere: just as a golden-wheel-turning king universally transforms the four continents, this king of sūtras universally transforms the four modes of birth. The "Span of Life Chapter" says: "All sentient beings in the trichiliocosm, through the Buddha's majestic power, experience supreme, wondrous bliss without any lack," and so forth. 4. The meaning of causing the lineage not to be severed: just as a golden-wheel-turning king definitely transmits his position so that it is not cut off, this sūtra is likewise, able to cause the lineage of the buddhas to continue uninterrupted without cessation; therefore, the "Prediction Chapter" bestows predictions upon Ruciraketu Bodhisattva and his two sons, and ten thousand devas and humans, through hearing these three receive predictions, generate pure minds of earnestness and also obtain predictions; hence it is metaphorised as a king.
