贊曰：陳如方便更復固求。分文為三：初歎經深妙勝者不知、次我等智微不能依習、後殷求舍利。此初也。明菩提涅槃二空理故甚深，除二障盡故無上。凡夫比智難解、現智難入，二乘定姓不能趣悟，故不能知。

Commentary: Kauṇḍinya, through expedient means, further persistently makes his request. The passage is divided into three: first, praising the sūtra as profound and subtle, unknown to superior beings; next, that our wisdom is slight and unable to practice it; finally, earnestly seeking the relic. This is the first. Because it clarifies the principle of the two emptynesses of bodhi and nirvāṇa, it is 'profound'; because it completely eliminates the two obstructions, it is 'unsurpassable'. For ordinary beings it is difficult to understand by inferential cognition, and difficult to enter by direct cognition; those of fixed lineage among the two vehicles cannot advance toward awakening to it, hence they 'cannot know it'.
