贊曰：明大樂德。若謂為苦如波羅葉。波羅葉，傳云：各分三道，不可為蓋而遮大雨。大雨，喻變易苦。聲聞謂苦，故不能破變易四魔大雨之苦。二乘作無常及苦觀，不能得常樂。

The commentary states: This clarifies the virtue of great bliss. If one regards it as suffering, it is like palāśa leaves. Tradition says of palāśa leaves: each splits into three tracts and cannot serve as an umbrella to ward off a great rain. The 'great rain' exemplifies the suffering of transformation. Śrāvakas regard it as suffering, and therefore cannot overcome the suffering of the great rain of transformation and the four māras. The two vehicles cultivate the contemplations of impermanence and suffering, and thus cannot attain permanence and bliss.
