贊曰：自下大段第二別明涅槃。文分為三：一陳疑啟請、二佛為解釋、三領悟得益。初文有二：初結前所聞、後正疑請。此初也。

Commentary: From here downward is the second major section, explaining nirvāṇa in detail. The text is divided into three parts: 1. stating doubts and making a request; 2. the Buddha explaining for him; 3. understanding and obtaining benefit. The first text has two parts: first, concluding what was heard previously; second, raising the doubt and request itself. This is the first.
