贊曰：申請也。甚深祕密是問果，如法修行者是問因。難可窮證名為甚深，或二乘不知名甚深也。地前菩薩不能解了名祕密。准《法華經論》甚深有五：一義、二體、三內證、四依止、五無上。又祕密者，即四祕密中相及令入，三性是相、三身令入。

Commentary: This is making the request. 'Profound secrets' asks about the fruit; 'practice in accordance with the Dharma' asks about the cause. Being difficult to fathom and realize is called 'profound'; or, not being known by the two vehicles is called 'profound'. Bodhisattvas prior to the stages being unable to understand is called 'secret'. According to the Saddharmapuṇḍarīkopadeśa, there are five kinds of profundity: 1. meaning, 2. essence, 3. inner realization, 4. support, 5. unsurpassability. Furthermore, 'secret' refers to characteristics and causing entry among the four secrets: the three natures are characteristics, and the three bodies cause entry.
