Commentary: Below, it explains through similes. There are four similes: the first two similes are for supramundane people; the latter two are for mundane people. For supramundane people, it first adduces the simile of the Buddha's extinction, showing that without conceptual differentiation he is able to benefit others; later, it adduces the simile of using the inferior to illustrate the superior. The first text has two parts: first the simile, later the application. This adduces the simile. It adduces the two vehicles' understanding of nirvāṇa, where they think that when the Buddha enters extinction, body and wisdom are absent, identical to the marklessness of tathatā, yet they believe that after extinction transformative activities can be accomplished. For instance, after nirvāṇa, he rose again from the golden coffin to manifest his feet, and the relics transformed into various activities, all being able to appear; therefore it is adduced as a simile.
