Commentary: Adducing the simile of space as a non-entity. First, the simile is adduced and explained; second, it is explained according to difficulties raised. The water and mirrors illustrate the capacity of sentient beings. "Due to light" illustrates the power of the primal vow. "Space" illustrates the phenomenon of tathatā and the wisdom of tathatā. "The reflection manifests" means that through the light of the power of the primal vow conjoining with space, the phenomenon of tathatā and so forth, the response and transformation [bodies] can manifest the various activities of benefiting others that they perform. Or it is said: that "the reflection of space manifests" is like cloudless empty space, its reflection can be manifested relying upon water and mirrors. As for the reflection of space, it is the blue sky of space seen by the worldly, the blue sky manifesting its reflection in water and mirrors. Space has no blueness; the blueness seen is like the manifestation of the response and transformation [bodies] upon the phenomenon of tathatā and the wisdom of tathatā. Or it simply illustrates that when the conditions of the spiritual capacity have receptivity, they then manifest, not that the response and transformation bodies manifest from the principle of tathatā. This is interpreted in accord with Vijñaptimātra and Master Sthiramati's non-[existence of] grasping and grasped aspects.
