The Commentary states: This is the second section of the second part, rejoicing. Following (隨) means conforming; rejoicing (喜) means celebration and delight. Following takes faith, desire, and resolute resolve as its essential nature; thus the *Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi* says: "If it is approving and conforming, its essence is resolute resolve. If it is delighting and conforming, its essence is desire." Since endurance is faith in the cause, and desire is faith in the result, therefore faith together with cause and effect constitute the essence of following. Rejoicing is the feeling of joy; or else this joy is not necessarily the feeling of joy, but is merely established nominally from the whole assemblage of mind and mental factors as celebration and delight, termed "joy." Or it is non-jealousy; therefore the immeasurable joy takes non-jealousy as its essence. This explanation is correct. Joy arises because of following, meaning joy in following; or it is both following and rejoicing, termed "rejoicing with others."
