贊曰：初釋難、後引證。此釋難。雖前後生滅一切諸法，而由因緣力故生，亦由因緣力故滅。此但舉因緣生，必定有因緣滅，故影略言不說滅也。雖滅不待因，據見生說，若未來應生，落謝應能感果。由懺因緣令彼不起，亦名為滅，即待因滅也。

Commentary: First it resolves the objection, and later it cites proof. This resolves the objection. Although all phenomena arise and cease before and after, yet by the power of causes and conditions they arise, and likewise by the power of causes and conditions they cease. Here, it merely adduces arising from causes and conditions, but there is certainly cessation from causes and conditions; thus by implicit ellipsis it does not mention cessation. Although cessation does not depend on a cause, this is spoken with reference to what is observed to arise; if what should arise in the future, having elapsed, should be able to induce a fruit, yet through the causes and conditions of repentance one causes it not to arise, this is also called cessation—that is, cessation depending on a cause.
