贊曰：此引證。一切如來皆同此說，故云如來所說。相謂體相。異法體出生，異法體滅壞，猶如明生而闇法滅。有能生因緣，有能滅因緣，因緣是所以義，所以有異。故懺法生，不善法滅。

Commentary: This cites proof. All Tathāgatas speak identically in this way; therefore it says “what the Tathāgata has taught”. “Characteristics” refers to essential marks. Arising is of different essential phenomena, and destruction is of different essential phenomena, just as when light arises, the phenomenon of darkness ceases. There are causes and conditions capable of generating, and there are causes and conditions capable of destroying; “causes and conditions” means the rationale, and the rationales are different. Therefore, when the phenomena of repentance arise, unwholesome phenomena cease.
