Commentary: Section four explains the practices cultivated on the grounds. The structure of the text is clear. Question: Even before the grounds, bodhisattvas practice the six pāramitās, and the Daśabhūmika-śāstra and other texts state: 'In the second aeon, within a single practice, one practices all practices; in the third aeon, within all practices, one practices all practices'—that is, all are cultivated completely. Why does this text say that each ground practices only one? Answer: In truth, it is so. The statement that each of the ten grounds practices only one is spoken in terms of predominance. Asabhāva's commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha states: 'Within each ground all ten kinds are fully cultivated; one should not say definitely that this ground only cultivates this.' Because it is spoken in terms of supreme prominence, there is no such fault.
