贊曰：下讚佛。初半頌總、後九頌別。此總。佛三德中，恩利生勝，故偏標舉，以影智斷。正知，謂正智。凡無正智，廣造邪業沈輪生死。佛具二智，唯獨能濟。雖菩薩等亦能度生，由依佛故，推功歸佛。

Commentary: Below, praising the Buddha. The first half-verse is general, and the subsequent nine verses are specific. This is the general. Among the Buddha's three virtues, the grace of benefiting living beings is superior, so it is singled out to imply wisdom and abandonment. 'Right knowledge' refers to right wisdom. Worldly beings lack right wisdom, broadly commit wrong karma, and sink into the cycle of birth and death. The Buddha possesses the two kinds of wisdom and alone is able to rescue them. Although bodhisattvas and others can also deliver living beings, because they rely on the Buddha, the merit is attributed to the Buddha.
