4.159

贊曰：明果也。由謂因由，因修二眼得圓滿故，能平等見。得者，無間道。至者，解脫道。或翻於上，得者證義，斷惑證滅心故。無上處者，即大菩提。不說肉天眼，無記法故。但是業果及定果故，所以不說。在佛身中，名為佛眼。今此讚因，故略佛眼。

Commentary: Explaining the fruit. 'By means of' indicates the cause: because the cultivation of the two eyes reaches perfection, one can see equally. 'Succeeds' refers to the path of uninterrupted progress (ānantaryamārga). 'Reaching' refers to the path of liberation (vimuktimārga). Or conversely: 'succeeds' means realizing, because the mind abandons delusion and realizes cessation. The 'unsurpassed state' is great awakening (mahābodhi). He does not speak of the fleshly eye or the divine eye, because they are morally neutral (avyākṛta) dharmas. They are merely the fruits of karma and the fruits of concentration, and therefore are not mentioned. In the person of a buddha, it is called the buddha eye. Here, he is praising the cause, so the buddha eye is omitted.
