贊曰：品中第四大段聞法獲益。於中有四：一時會得益、二世尊讚誨、三大眾奉行、四如來更勅。此初也。文有四益：一得無生忍，創得在初地，長時得在八地，圓滿得在佛地。二得不退，即十住第七不退大菩提心。三定性二乘證預流果，無漏慧生，緣四諦法得法眼淨。四有大乘種性凡夫，通三乘不定性，發菩提心。

Commentary: This is the fourth major section of the chapter, 'Obtaining Benefits upon Hearing the Dharma.' Within this there are four parts: first, the assembly present at the time obtains benefits; second, the World-Honoured One praises and instructs; third, the great assembly receives and practices; fourth, the Tathāgata enjoins again. This is the first. The text has four benefits: First, obtaining the forbearance of non-arising phenomena (anutpattikadharmakṣānti), which is first attained at the first bhūmi, attained over a long duration at the eighth bhūmi, and attained in full perfection at the Buddha bhūmi. Second, obtaining non-retrogression, which is the non-retrogression from the mind of mahābodhi at the seventh of the ten abodes. Third, those of fixed lineage of the two vehicles realize the fruit of stream-entry (srotāpanna): undefiled wisdom arises, and with the phenomena of the four noble truths as object, they attain the purification of the Dharma-eye (dharmacakṣurviśuddhi). Fourth, ordinary beings possessing the Mahāyāna lineage, including those of indeterminate lineage across the three vehicles, generate the bodhicitta.
