4.58

下喻發心修般若度因。文亦有三，喻、合、結。喻有二種：一日輪，喻智自性。二光耀熾盛，喻作用，有二：一能照明、二能破闇。即證真斷惑，理通利物，有勝勢力故。此自得已，亦令他得，通自他能。

Below illustrates the cause of giving rise to the mind to cultivate the prajñāpāramitā. The text also has three parts: metaphor, application, and conclusion. The metaphor has two parts: first, the sun disk illustrates the intrinsic nature of wisdom; second, "radiates blazing brilliance" illustrates its functions, which are two: first, being able to illuminate; second, being able to destroy darkness. That is, realizing truth and severing delusions, its principle extending to benefiting beings, because it possesses superior strength. Having attained this oneself, one also causes others to attain it, encompassing capacities for both oneself and others.
