贊曰：釋也。有三：初法、次喻、後合。初法也。行三精進，加行攝善利樂，依四法行流通此經，猶如勇士故。《遺教經》云「譬如著鎧入陣則無所畏。」

Commentary: This is the explanation. There are three parts: first, the doctrine; second, the analogy; third, the application. This is the first, the doctrine. Cultivating the three kinds of vīrya—preparatory, gathering wholesome dharmas, and benefiting and gladdening [sentient beings]—he propagated this sūtra by relying on the four Dharma practices, just like a warrior. Therefore the Yijiao jing says: "Just like wearing armor and entering battle, one is entirely fearless."
