下第二別明過去修學此經。於中有四：初二頌求法人、次十六頌正求法、次一頌因得聞、次四頌依修學。初求人有四：一明求法時、二「有王出」下明求法人、三「為轉輪王」下明王化、四「有城」下明住處。

Below is the second [part], specifically clarifying the past cultivation and learning of this sūtra. Within it there are four: first, two verses on the person who sought the Dharma; next, sixteen verses directly on seeking the Dharma; next, one verse on getting to hear it as a result; next, four verses on cultivating and learning in accordance with it. The first, on the person seeking, has four: first, clarifying the time of seeking the Dharma; second, from 'A king appeared' downward, clarifying the person seeking the Dharma; third, from 'Being a wheel-turning king' downward, clarifying the king's transforming influence; fourth, from 'There was a city' downward, clarifying the place of residence.
