6.178

經　「爾時薩埵王子便作是念：『我捨身命今正是時。何以故？我從久來持此身，臭穢膿流不可愛。供給敷具并衣食，象馬車乘及珍財。變壞之法體無常，恒求難滿難保守，雖常供養懷怨害，終歸棄我不知恩。復次此身不堅，於我無益？可畏如賊、不淨如糞。我於今日當使此身修廣大業，於生死海作大舟航，棄捨輪迴令得出離。』」

The Sūtra [states]: "At that time, Prince Sattva then had this thought: 'Now is precisely the time for me to give up my body and life. Why is that? / For a long time I have maintained this body, / Foul, filthy, flowing with pus, not to be loved. / Supplying it with bedding as well as clothes and food, / Elephants, horses, vehicles, and precious wealth. / It is a phenomenon of decay and change, its nature impermanent; / Constantly demanding, hard to satisfy, hard to preserve. / Although I always sustain it, it harbors hostility; / In the end it will abandon me, ungrateful.' / 'Furthermore, this body is not solid—what benefit has it brought me? It is terrifying like a bandit, impure like dung. Today I shall make this body cultivate vast activity, to serve as a great vessel upon the ocean of birth and death, to cast off saṃsāra and cause [beings] to attain transcendence.'"
