6.200

經　「阿難陀！汝等應知，此即是彼菩薩舍利。」復告阿難陀：「我於昔時雖具煩惱貪瞋癡等，能於地獄餓鬼旁生五趣之中隨緣救濟令得出離。何況今時煩惱都盡無復餘習，號天人師具一切智，而不能為一一眾生經於多劫在地獄中及於餘處代受眾苦，令出生死煩惱輪迴？」

Sūtra: 'Ānanda! You all should know that these are indeed the relics of that Bodhisattva.' He further addressed Ānanda: 'Although in the past I was possessed of defilements—greed, hatred, delusion, and so forth—I was able to bring rescue and cause deliverance in accordance with conditions among the five destinies of hells, hungry ghosts, and animals. How much more so now, when defilements are entirely exhausted without any remaining predispositions, and I am designated the Teacher of Gods and Humans, endowed with all-knowledge—how could I not, for the sake of each single sentient being, undergo numerous sufferings on their behalf in the hells and other places throughout many kalpas, to cause them to escape the transmigration of birth and death and defilement?'
