下第二眾聞願護，有二：初總、後「爾時諸大菩薩」下別。總中有四：初舉眾數、二「異口同音」下述欣願心、三「於佛世尊」下誓自護持、四「佛涅槃後」兼傳末代。

Below, the second part is the assembly hearing and vowing to protect, which has two divisions: first general, and next specific from 'At that time, the great bodhisattvas' onward. In the general part there are four aspects: first, citing the number of the assembly; second, from 'with one voice' onward, expressing their joyous and willing minds; third, from 'Toward the Buddha, the World-Honoured One' onward, vowing to protect it themselves; fourth, 'After the Buddha's nirvāṇa', transmitting it concurrently to later generations.
