There are also three conditions: 1. to cause the generation of aspiration and joy; 2. to cause cultivation of practice; 3. to cause the severance of hindrances. That is, clarifying that the teachings sentient beings wish to hear do not exceed three kinds: 1. aspiring to seek superior fruit and benefit sentient beings; 2. practices to be cultivated; 3. hindrances to be eliminated. As in the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, Subhūti's question states, 'How should those who set out upon the bodhisattva vehicle abide...', etc., by which we know that setting out upon the remaining vehicles likewise has three kinds. In the vehicle of humans and devas, although one does not sever the seeds, one can also subdue the hindrances to the three miserable destinies and attain rebirth among humans and devas; hence each has three, which is due to the evocation by capacities.
