In the positings of nature, the mention of space, cessation, and nirvāṇa refers to the three unconditioned dharmas. 'Space' means the unconditioned dharma of space; 'cessation' means the unconditioned dharma of cessation not through deliberation; and 'nirvāṇa' means the unconditioned dharma of cessation through deliberation. These three unconditioned dharmas are all without an uncreated nature, yet are posited as existent through false clinging and attachment. When it says 'free from nature and non-nature', it means that all dharmas are originally neither existent nor non-existent. Like the horns of hares and horses, they exemplify non-existence; like the tuft of hair appearing due to cataract-diseased eyes, they exemplify not being non-existent.
