3.33

爾時，大慧菩薩白佛言：「世尊！何故世尊於大眾中唱如是言：『我是過去一切佛，及種種受生。我爾時作曼陀轉輪聖王、六牙大象及鸚鵡鳥、釋提桓因、善眼仙人。』如是等百千生經說。」

Then Bodhisattva Mahāmati addressed the Buddha, saying: "World-Honoured One! For what reason did the World-Honoured One proclaim among the great assembly such words: 'I was all the Buddhas of the past, and took various births. At that time I was King Mandhātṛ the wheel-turning king, the great elephant with six tusks, the parrot, Śakra Devānām Indra, and the rishi Su-netra.' Such is spoken in sūtras of hundreds of thousands of births."
